Teledermatology Access Program (TAP) Grant Awarded to Enhance Care in Rural Mississippi

We are excited to announce that Drs. Amy E. Flischel, Robert T. Brodell, Jeremy D. Jackson, Stephen E. Helms, and Vinayak K. Nahar have been awarded a grant, funded by Eli Lilly, for the Teledermatology Access Program (TAP). This initiative will introduce a novel chatbot application to streamline teledermatology consultations for rural primary care physicians, reducing the time required for data entry from 15-20 minutes to less than 5 minutes. By implementing this system, rural physicians will enhance access to dermatologic care for underserved populations in Mississippi, addressing critical healthcare disparities.

The Dermatology Clinical Trials Unit and Dermatology Research Team continue to be engaged in many exciting projects!

Our team is actively recruiting interested patients for a clinical trial to assess a novel therapy, Amlitelimab, for treatment of atopic dermatitis (Eczema). Individuals 12 years and older with a history of atopic dermatitis are eligible to enroll.

Additionally, Drs. Thy Huynh and Vinayak K. Nahar received a grant from the National Alopecia Areata Foundation in collaboration with the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance to assess the psychological wellbeing of children and families living with alopecia areata. Patients aged 12 years and older with a diagnosis of alopecia areata are invited to take a brief survey. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a $20 gift card.
